The Compassionate Friends

Supporting Family When A Child Dies – Ottawa, Ontario

The Compassionate Friends – Update

January 15, 2015 by TCF Ottawa

Dear Compassionate Friend:

The worst of the winter may still be before us, but the gradually lengthening days give us confidence that Spring will come eventually. On our grief journey, hope gives us courage to face the emotional storms ahead, confident that they too will pass.

Please note the following items to help reinforce that hope.

1. Sharing Circles

Our Sharing Circles continue on the third Tuesday of every month at The Olde Forge Community Resource Centre, 2730 Carling Avenue (at Richmond) from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The next meetings are January 20th, February 17th, March 17th and April 21st. There is no need to register in advance, and there are no fees to attend any of our meetings or activities. For driving instructions and a map, please visit our website: http://www.tcfottawa.net .

2. Candle Lighting Celebration

Approximately 40 parents and friends attended our 16th Annual Candle Lighting on December 14th at Southminster United Church. This was the first time in this location and we would welcome any feedback on the location and program or suggestions for next year’s event.

3. BFO Closed Group

Bereaved Families of Ontario (BFO) Ottawa are accepting registrations for their 10-week closed group for Loss of a Child starting later this month. For more information or to register, please contact Deborah Krogan at 613-567-4278 or office.

4. Website / Facebook

Visitors to our Chapter website (www.tcfottawa.net) continue to provide positive comments and we are always looking to add information and material to help other parents. If you would like to have your child’s name on our “Memories” page, or if you have suggestions for additions to our library, please contact our webmaster Mark through the website.

You can also read and post messages on our Facebook page – look for “The Compassionate Friends Ottawa Chapter”.

Best wishes,

Andy Bond
