Dear Compassionate Friend:

A quick reminder of some upcoming events and activities which we hope you will be able to attend.

1. Our 12th annual Balloon Release takes place tomorrow, Saturday June 21st at the Butterfly Garden on the CHEO campus. Registration opens at 1:30 and the ceremony starts at 2:00. Balloons will be provided, along with free parking courtesy of CHEO. The Butterfly Garden, which has been undergoing a major rejuvenation, is located on the hill near the entrance to the Emergency department.

2. Eileen and I will be hosting our annual pot-luck Summer Social on Saturday July 12th from 4:30pm. Everyone is welcome whether you have attended meetings or not. This social activity is a way to keep in touch with people you may have met through TCF or to introduce you to new friends. This is a true potluck please bring whatever you fancy, homemade or purchased – this is a no stress event. Cutlery, plates, napkins, tea and coffee will be provided; drinks would be appreciated.

To give us an idea of numbers, please RSVP to this e-mail or by phone to 613-692-4521, but feel free to come at the last minute.

3. Although the Worldwide Candle Lighting Celebration does not take place until Sunday December 14th, we are looking for your help. St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, where we have held the event for the last 3 years, is not available this year due to their schedule of Christmas activities. If you have any suggestions for a suitable alternative, not necessarily a church, please let me know.

4. Finally, our Sharing Circles WILL continue on the 3rd Tuesday of every month throughout the summer at The Olde Forge Community Resource Centre. For directions and a map, please visit our Chapter website www.tcfottawa.net.

5. And remember, if you or someone you know needs an understanding ear to listen, please check “Need a Friend?” under the Activities tab on the website home page.

We hope to see you at one or more of the above events.

With best wishes for a peaceful summer,

Andy Bond
