Supporting Family When A Child Dies – Ottawa, Ontario

Monthly Sharing Circles

No one seems to understand what it means to lose a child like another parent who has gone through a similar loss. The monthly sharing circle offers an opportunity to share feelings, emotions and experiences in an atmosphere of trust, empathy, and confidentiality.

TCF Ottawa now offers two opportunities for parents to meet. In-person meetings are resuming in April, 2022, and we will continue to also offer a separate monthly Zoom online sharing meeting.

In-person Sharing Circle:

When: The Ottawa Chapter meets on the third Tuesday of each month from
7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Where: We meet at Tubman’s Funeral Home, 3440 Richmond Road, Nepean. Please Note: The entrance is located around the back, down the hill to the right.

Zoom Online Sharing ‘Circle’:

Available the first Thursday of the month at 7 p.m. ET. Watch for access instructions each month on our website or blog.

Below and on the next page are some frequently asked questions about the sharing circle:

If I go to a meeting, will I have to talk?

No one is required to talk at any meeting. We understand how difficult that can be when our grief is so fresh. We do ask that you listen, however.

My child was an adult and didn’t live at home. Can I still go to a meeting?

Chapter meetings are open to all families who have experienced the death of a child, at any age, from any cause. Regardless of age, we in TCF believe our children will always be thought of as just that – our children.
