The Compassionate Friends

Supporting Family When A Child Dies – Ottawa, Ontario

The Compassionate Friends – Update (2)

November 9, 2013 by TCF Ottawa

Here are a couple of items that should have been included in the previous broadcast.

7. The Butterfly Garden at CHEO

The work required to maintain The Butterfly Garden in top condition has stretched the resources of our small but dedicated group of volunteers. We recently had a very productive meeting with CHEO staff and volunteers who are putting together a plan for on-going maintainance for the Garden. CHEO has allocated some funds to cover the cost of engaging a landscape contractor for the heavy Spring and Fall clean-ups, and volunteers will coordinate regular weeding and trimming visits. Our Chapter will also contribute to ensure that the Garden remains a place for patients and families to enjoy a quiet place for reflection and relaxation. If you would like to be part of the Butterfly Garden volunteer team, please reply to this e-mail and we will pass your name on to the coordinators.

We would like to acknowledge and thank those volunteers whose efforts have helped establish the Garden as an ongoing commemoration “For the Love of Our Children”.

8. Closed Support Group

Bereaved Families of Ontario (BFO) Ottawa Chapter, is accepting registrations for their 10-week closed support group for the death of a child which is scheduled to start in March 2014. For more information, please visit their website office or 613-567-4278.

Best wishes,

Andy Bond
