Dear Compassionate Friend:
The first snow flurries remind us that winter is on the way. Here are some events that may help you through those cold, dark days.
1. Sharing Circles
Our Sharing Circles continue on the third Tuesday of every month at The Olde Forge Community Resource Centre, 2730 Carling Avenue (at Richmond) from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The next meetings are November 18th, December 16th, January 20th and February 17th. There is no need to register in advance, and there are no fees to attend any of our meetings or activities. For driving instructions and a map, please visit our website: http://www.tcfottawa.net.
2. Candle Lighting Celebration
Our 16th annual Candle Lighting Celebration in conjunction with the Worldwide Candle Lighting in memory of those children who left us too soon will be held on Sunday, December 14th in The Parlour Room at Southminster United Church, 15 Aylmer Avenue in Ottawa South. Please use the entrance on Galt Street and arrive by 6:45pm for a prompt 7:00pm start. There is some on-street parking by the church and lots of space at the Sunnyside library branch across Bank Street.
All family and friends are welcome to join us. The program includes individual and group readings, music, reading of children’s names, and lighting of individual candles. Candles are provided. Please bring a photograph of your child(ren) that can free-stand on a table.
More information is available on the attached poster and on our chapter website (www.tcfottawa.net). Please forward to anyone that you feel may benefit from attending, and print and post copies in your workplace, doctor’s office, community centre, or place of worship.
3. Newsletters
Although we do not publish an Ottawa newsletter, we often make available newsletters for other TCF Chapters and support organizations on our website. The recent letter from the Kamloops Chapter contains many articles and quotations that are particularly helpful as we approach the holiday season.
4. Website / Facebook
Our Chapter website http://www.tcfottawa.net contains information on Chapter activities, contacts, and links to several support resources. If you have any suggestions for additional material or would like your child included on our “Remembering” page, please contact our webmaster Mark through the e-mail link.
Our Chapter is also on Facebook – look for “The Compassionate Friends Ottawa Chapter” to post pictures and comments and share messages.
5. Contact List Update
If you would prefer not to receive these updates, please let me know and I will remove you from our contact list.
I hope that you are able to join us at one or more of our events.
Best wishes,
Andy Bond
