Dear Compassionate Friend:
After a long, cold winter and cool spring, the geese are coming back and the trees are starting to show green again. Life has a way of overcoming adversity and gives us hope that we too will survive the winter of our grief. Keep hold of those positive thoughts and join us for one or more of our upcoming events.
1. Sharing Circles – third Tuesday
Our Sharing Circles continue on the third Tuesday of every month at The Olde Forge Community Resource Centre, 2730 Carling Avenue (at Richmond) from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The next meetings are April 21st, May 19th, June 16th and July 21st and will continue through the summer. There is no need to register in advance, and there are no fees to attend any of our meetings or activities. For driving instructions and a map, please visit our website: http://www.tcfottawa.net.
2. Annual General Meeting – Tuesday June 2nd
Our 16th AGM will be held on Tuesday June 2nd at The Olde Forge starting at 6:30pm. This is not a Sharing Circle but an opportunity to see what goes into planning our meetings and events. We are quite informal, so consider please attending and finding out how you could contribute some of your time and talents to helping others on their grief journey.
3. Balloon Release – Saturday June 20th
Although CHEO has not officially confirmed the date, the annual Balloon Release takes place on the 3rd Saturday in June near the summer solstice. This event was started by TCF Ottawa in 2002 and in recent years has been adopted by CHEO as part of their outreach program. Please mark your calendar and plan to join us for this very moving commemoration. Details will be provided nearer the date.
4. Summer Social – Saturday July 18th
Eileen and I will be hosting our annual pot-luck Summer Social on July 18th. Please reserve the date – more information to come.
