Dear Compassionate Friend:
Our activities continue through the summer months with some specific events to mark in your calendar. We hope that you will be able to join us at one or more of them.
1. Sharing Circles – 3rd Tuesday of each month
Our Circles will continue on the third Tuesday of each month from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at The Olde Forge Community Resource Centre. The next meetings will be on June 21st, July 19th, August 16th and September 20th. There are no fees to attend any of our events or activities and no need to register in advance. Please arrive a few minutes early to check in. For directions and a map, please visit our Chapter website www.tcfottawa.net.
2. Annual General Meeting – Tuesday, June 7th
Our Annual General Meeting #17 will be held on Tuesday June 7th at The Olde Forge, starting at 6:30 pm. This is not a Sharing Circle but an opportunity to see what goes on “behind the scenes”. Please join us to see how you may be able to contribute your time and talents to helping others on their grief journey.
The meeting format is informal, with lots of round-table discussion. Please feel free to bring snacks, drinks or finger-food to share.
3. Balloon Release – Saturday, June 18th – Ronald McDonald House
Our annual Balloon Release in memory of our children who left us too soon will take place on Saturday June 18th at the CHEO campus. Registration opens at 1:30 pm and the ceremony will begin at 2:00 pm. The Canterbury Chamber Chorus will perform live music, and balloons, strings and notes, light refreshments, as well as free parking will be provided courtesy of CHEO. We also expect to have live butterflies for the children to release.
Note that for this year, the location has been moved to the Ronald McDonald House gardens, 407 Smyth Road. However, The Butterfly Garden (near the helipad) will still be open for visitors.
Please feel free to forward the attached poster or share this information with anyone that you feel would like to attend this special event.
4. Summer Social – Saturday, July 16th
Eileen and I will be hosting our annual pot-luck Summer Social on Saturday, July 16th from 4:30 pm. Everyone is welcome whether you have attended meetings or not. This social activity is a way to keep in touch with people you may have met through TCF or to introduce you to new friends. It is a true potluck, so please bring whatever you fancy, homemade or purchased – this is a no-stress event. Cutlery, plates, napkins, tea and coffee will be provided; drinks would be appreciated. More details nearer the date.
