Dear Compassionate Friend:
A gentle reminder about upcoming events. We hope that you can join us at one or more of them in the next few weeks.
1. Candle Lighting Celebration – Sunday, December 11th
Our 18th annual Candle Lighting Celebration in memory of all children who have left us too soon will be held on Sunday, December 11th at the Ron Kolbus Centre in Britannia Park. Please bring a free-standing picture of your child/ren and arrive by 6:30 pm for a prompt 7:00 pm start. There is no charge to attend, candles will be provided with light refreshments to follow. The attached poster provides more information – please forward to anyone that you believe would benefit in attending, and post copies in your doctors office, community centre, workplace or place of worship.
We still have time to include your suggestions for the program, perhaps a favourite reading or piece of music. If you would like to assist with this event, either in planning or on the day, please reply to this e-mail.
2. Sharing Circles
Our Sharing Circles continue on the third Tuesday of every month from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at The Olde Forge Community Resource Centre. If you are unable to join us for the Candle Lighting, there will be a Circle on December 20th. In 2017, they will be held on January 17th, February 21st, and March 21st.
3. United Way
The Compassionate Friends is a volunteer-run, peer support network. There are no membership fees or any other charges to use our services or to participate in our groups or activities. We do not solicit funds from our members nor do we have fundraising campaigns. This is not a request for funds. However, we are grateful for any donations received and use them to further the activities of TCF. If you wish, you may donate directly to TCF Ottawa. You will receive a tax receipt from us for the full amount of your donation.
You may also donate through United Way and designate TCF Ottawa as the recipient of your contribution. The official title of the Chapter is “The Compassionate Friends, Ottawa Valley / Outaouais Chapter” and our charitable organization number is 86493-2520-RR0001. United Way will provide you with a tax receipt but please note that an administrative fee will be deducted by United Way from your contribution.
Best wishes,
Andy Bond
