The Compassionate Friends

Supporting Family When A Child Dies – Ottawa, Ontario

Eric Basombrio Anderson
March 16, 1991 – December 9, 1998

Eric was a beautiful child – in body and in spirit
With eyes that danced with irresistible energy
and an eternal smile that echoed on the faces of others,
His constant chatter and frequent laughter were my music.

Eric was rainbows and flowers,
Sunny days and warm breezes,
Laughter and love.

His life was about giving,
Giving unselfishly of himself.
Other people coming first,
A hug, a kiss when they were needed,
And even when they weren’t.

He was my friend as well as my little boy,
He loved me unquestionably as I did him.
Never doubting, never needing assurance,
Just knowing and secure in the person he was.

He was wise beyond his short seven years,
Wise in knowing the need of those around him, .
Wise in the way of the heart,
Some people never obtain in a life time.

I hope he knows how many lives he touched in a short time,
The people whose lives he brightened
And whose hearts he captured.
We are all so much better for knowing him.

Eric left a wonderful legacy of love and giving,
Because of this, he will always be with us,
Not just in our hearts and memories,
But also in the way we live,
A greater teacher we could never have had.
